Duncaster takes inspiration from a powerful quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, “It isn’t enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to believe in it. One must work at it.”

Motivated by a strong desire to advance peace in Ukraine, the Duncaster community is responding with compassion to the needs of the Ukrainian people by challenging our community to raise $10,000 to support relief efforts. Today, we are well on our way to achieving this goal.

On March 14th at 10:00 a.m., the Duncaster Community wore yellow and blue as a sign of solidarity with Ukrainians, and donations were accepted at a gathering of peaceful reflection. We were joined by Talida Tetrichko, a Duncaster Nurse, who is actively involved in Ukrainian American Relief work. Talida shared examples of what is being done in Connecticut to help the people of Ukraine, and the gratitude and resilience being demonstrated by Ukrainians.

We understand that while humanitarian relief items are needed in Ukraine, money will arrive faster than donated goods, which are being stopped at Ukraine’s borders. If you want to donate, here are ways you can help:

• If you are a resident, you may donate at the Commons Market to join our Duncaster community’s humanitarian relief effort.
• Anyone may make a gift to the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee, Inc. by visiting: www.uuarc.org.
• Another way to give locally would be to call the Ukrainian Self Reliance New England Federal Credit Union (USNEFCU) at (860) 296-4714 and ask about the funds that have been established for Ukrainian relief.
