At Duncaster, one of our favorite summer dining experiences is our New England lobster boil.  Begun by Executive Chef Frank Zimber, this year’s event marked the 11th anniversary of a much-loved annual tradition of food and camaraderie.

Delivered in the morning and steamed in small batches, the lobster was amazingly fresh and deliciously prepared outdoors for all to see and enjoy. Served with bibs and crackers in a traditional style, or expertly shelled by our staff, Duncaster’s Culinary Team took great pride in creating a delicious dining experience that showcased the many flavors of the season. 

Delicious steamed lobster was served alongside house-made New England clam chowder, a classic Caesar salad and baked potato, farmer Wade’s famous local corn, and a slice of warm apple pie. So many delicious options were available. Residents chose to dine indoors, al fresco on the Town Green, or they took a to-go order for picnicking or enjoying at home. Whatever the choice, the food was perfect.

The event was as much about gathering in the spirit of friendship as it was about enjoying delicious food. Many residents eagerly dined outdoors with family or friends where they enjoyed the warm summer day and the lobster-cracking showmanship of the culinary team. Said resident Al DeVito, “With both dining rooms filled with happy eager diners, the event felt like old times. The food was delicious, and the party atmosphere was great! There was much happy conversation among our safely distanced tables. It felt good to see residents, staff and Board members together all enjoying a meal.”
